What Is a TFP Senior Portrait Photo Shoot?

A TFP shoot, or Time for Print/Photos session, is a collaborative arrangement where the model – high school senior – gives their time to the photographer in exchange for professional digital images. This arrangement allows seniors to receive professionally captured and edited photos at no cost, while PhotoArtGraphy can use the images for portfolios or promotional purposes.

These sessions typically last a couple of hours, giving ample time to experiment with multiple locations, poses, and wardrobe options. Each shoot is carefully planned to ensure that both the senior and the photographer achieve the desired results.

How TFP Senior Portrait Sessions Work

High school seniors interested in a TFP senior portrait shoot submit an application form to PhotoArtGraphy. Each request is considered based on availability and suitability for the collaborative project. While PhotoArtGraphy is selective with the TFP sessions it accepts, the goal is to offer as many seniors as possible the chance to experience professional portrait photography.

Once a session is scheduled, the senior is responsible for providing makeup, hair styling, and wardrobe. Multiple outfits are encouraged, as this allows the photographer to create a diverse range of looks. PhotoArtGraphy provides a pop-up privacy changing tent, making it easy to change outfits even in outdoor or remote locations.

Locations & Flexibility

TFP senior portrait shoots are highly flexible in terms of location. Seniors can choose to have their session at:

  • Their own home or backyard
  • A friend or family member’s property (with a signed property release form)
  • Local parks or other creative outdoor locations

PhotoArtGraphy serves families throughout York County, Pennsylvania, as well as Baltimore, Harford, and Carroll counties in Maryland. Travel within a reasonable distance is included, allowing seniors to select meaningful locations that reflect their personality and interests.

Professional Editing & Deliverables

After the session, the images are professionally edited to ensure the highest quality. PhotoArtGraphy provides an agreed-upon number of digital images to the senior, ready for sharing on social media, personal use, or printing. These professionally edited images allow seniors to showcase their personality, accomplishments, and style while receiving a polished product they can treasure.

Preparing for Your TFP Shoot

To make the most of a TFP senior portrait session, seniors should come prepared:

  • Wardrobe: Bring multiple outfit options to allow for creative variety. Coordinating colors, textures, and styles can enhance the visual appeal of the photos.
  • Hair and Makeup: Seniors are responsible for their own styling, so plan in advance to achieve the desired look.
  • Props and Personal Items: If you wish to include items such as sports equipment, musical instruments, or other meaningful accessories, let the photographer know in advance.
  • Animal Participation: If including pets in the shoot, bring someone responsible for handling them during the session.

PhotoArtGraphy’s portable changing tent ensures privacy for wardrobe changes, even at outdoor or remote locations. This flexibility allows seniors to focus on expressing themselves rather than worrying about logistics.

Guidelines for Underage Models

High school seniors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or another responsible adult who has written permission from the parent. This ensures safety and compliance during the session. In fact, it is wise to always have a friend or relative accompany you during any senior photo shoot. PhotoArtGraphy prioritizes creating a secure, comfortable environment for all participants while respecting the model’s privacy.
